Civics and PA History Information
 
Hello! I have the pleasure of teaching 7th grade social studies at Richland High School.
 
This course will cover both Pennsylvania History and Civics. The primary focus of the course will be to help young people develop an ability to make informed, reasoned, and educated decisions for the public good as citizens as well as understand our state's interesting history. Students will also develop their critical thinking and literacy skills.
 
This year's assignments and communication will primarily occur through Google Classroom.
 
Materials needed: Students will need to bring a writing utensil, notebook or binder with loose leaf paper, charged Chromebooks, and a positive learning attitude to class.

Psychology Information
 
This elective course is a general introduction to the scientific study of the brain, behavior, and mental processes of individuals, and will explain, describe, and predict behavior of individuals. The course will begin by defining psychology and then move to the self, body, and the mind.  Particular topics such as the science of psychology, what psychologists do, and psychological evaluations will be explored.  The course then will examine theories of development over the lifespan such as personalities, sensation, perception, thinking, and intelligence. Students will apply case studies, analyze films, examine surveys and test, read supplemental document based material, write papers to demonstrate comprehension of topics.
 
This course is open to students in grades 11 and 12.
