Message from the Superintendent 8-26-20

Good morning!

This is Arnie Nadonley, Superintendent of Schools.   I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to all of our parents, teachers,  and especially our students for their patience and dedication to the Richland School District.  In a normal year, the first day of school is always a challenge filled with unanticipated glitches.

In 32 years of first days as an educator, I could not have been prouder of our students.  They were excited to be back and I can honestly say that I teared up a little bit seeing the kids back where they belong.  They are the heart and soul of what we do at Richland and we are going to do our very best in difficult times to educate and keep the children you have entrusted to us safe while attending the premier school district of the Laurel Highlands.

I ask for your patience as we have a few things to improve upon such as improving our temperature scanning to reduce lines.  This is new for the kids and new for us.  Busing went well other than a few hiccups. We will correct that over the next few days as we have some new drivers, new stops, and new students.

Students who drove to school were here earlier than ever before because they want to be here and they miss their friends and they believe in Richland. For our elementary parents who drove their children or who will drive their children, thank you for your patience and not running me down this morning!  It was truly great to see all of you.

Please bear with us as we refine the morning student drop off and work through the new student pick up procedures.   Please know that construction at the elementary will continue as planned through the Spring of next year.  Please understand that is a temporary inconvenience for permanent improvements for our students and community.

In closing,  I am truly blessed to be leading this great district and I am thankful each and every day for your unwavering support.  As we move forward together, we will take one day at a time to do our very best for your children. Thank you and now onto the best part of the job, visiting kindergarten!
